POSITION SUMMARY:
There is currently an opening at the Indianapolis Manufacturing site, for a Senior Systems/Server Administrator. Under limited supervision, administers all aspects of the Vertellus Specialties application servers. Assists with Technical Support problems/issues and issues by spotting reoccurring issues and devising a solution to prevent them. Primary responsibility for server replacement and maintenance tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manages 80+ servers in a Active Directory environment, ensuring that each server has 100% uptime
2. Troubleshoots problems with networks, web services, mail services and overall aspects related to a manufacturing environment including process control equipment.
3. Maintains a broad knowledge of operating systems, programming languages and hardware
4. Monitor system logs and activity on all servers and devices
5. May lead or guide the work of other staff engaged in similar functions
6. Attend and actively participate in weekly strategic and operational meetings
7. Coordinate with development team to schedule releases of software updates and patches
Requirements:
1. 8+ years experience in Systems Administration in a Windows environment
2. BS in IT, Business or related field or equivalent work experience
3. Knowledge of TCP/IP stacks and their functionality
4. Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2000/2003 and Honeywell equipment
5. Advanced knowledge of Internet Information Services 5.x and 6.0
6. Knowledge and troubleshooting of Exchange Server 2003/2007
7. Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of MS SQL Server 2000/2005
8. Working knowledge of Citrix in a terminal server and web services environment
9. Strong knowledge of web application security, understanding of vulnerabilities and countermeasures
10. Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly
11. Effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information
